Mr. K. S. SZE, an orphaned teenager, began an apprenticeship under a local jeweler. His love for craftsmanship and the study of jewels was instant. So deep was this passion, Mr. K. S. SZE was but a young man when he took a risk and opened a jewelry store with his trusted partner, Mr. Chang Yuen Tong.

Located on Shanghai’s famous Nanjing Road and Shanxi Road in, the store gained a wide-spread popularity and deep reputation for faithfulness and integrity. The company grew and became popular by word of mouth, expanding services in bespoke “One Piece Only” expertise as well as a ubiquitous presence in the famous “Four Great Department Stores” of Shanghai. Mr. K.S. Sze’s values of friendship with clientele and fairness and intregrity have endured.

In 1949, Mr. K.S. Sze decided to relocate his family and business to Hong Kong. A counter in Central would do just fine for a new beginning. In the youth of Hong Kong, Mr. K. S. SZE stood out. A brilliant expert with a deep knowledge of the craft, a genuine care for clients, and the commitment to offer the fairest prices. The company experienced significant growth and gained popularity among the elite. Most of the growth still happened through word-of-mouth recommendations, a tradition that continues to this day.

When The Mandarin Oriental Hotel opened its doors, K.S. Sze & Sons became the one seven stores and the jeweler of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel’s shopping arcade at that time. As travel guides and journalists began to celebrate the uniqueness of Hong Kong, common observations began to flow it.

In 1997, the story of K.S. Sze & Sons entered the next generation as K.S. Sze's children, Dr. Nien Dak Sze and Stephanie Sze Leung, took the reins, making steps for K. S. Sze & Sons’ global footprint. Hundreds of exclusive trunk shows began to surface across New York City, Chicago, Dallas, Washington D.C. and San Francisco and Los Angeles, sharing the uniquely personal approach to jewelry making for families. The Company considers its 101th in business, and its standing as the longest-running venture in the history of Hong Kong’s The Mandarin Oriental Hotel, a moment of celebration among its deep friendships, from generation to generation, with so many clients and clients here in Hong Kong, and around the world.
